1. Memphis Surgeon Kelly Honored By Pediatric Orthopaedic Society -

Dr. Derek M. Kelly, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, has been awarded the Special Effort and Excellence Award from the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.

2. Popular Burger Chain Moves Into Memphis -

After years of Five Guys Burgers and Fries having a presence in the Nashville and Knoxville areas, the chain is setting up shop in one of Memphis’ most densely populated areas.

Jubilee Restaurant Group LLC, owner of the franchise, signed a 2,882-square-foot lease in Primacy Place, 1615 Ridgeway Road.

3. MAAR Commercial Council Welcomes New Board Members -

The Memphis Area Association of Realtors Commercial Council held its annual board of directors meeting Thursday, approving three new members for its 2011 board.

Greg deWitt of Grubb & Ellis Co. will take over one of the council’s director seats next year before becoming the council’s vice president in 2012. He will inherit the seat occupied by John Mercer of Highwoods Properties in 2011.

Janice Stanton, managing director of investment research for Cushman & Wakefield in New York, discussed the global financial crisis and how it has impacted commercial real estate at Wednesday’s Commercial Property Forecast Summit, at the Germantown Performing Arts Centre and sponsored by the Memphis Area Association of Realtors Commercial Council.

5. Big-Picture Economics Topic Of Property Summit -

A host of experts will discuss the bigger picture of the U.S. and global economies as well as local real estate matters at this week's Commercial Property Forecast summit, hosted by the Memphis Area Association of Realtors' Commercial Council.
