1. Candidates Lined Up for Four Open Judicial Seats on the August Ballot -

The Shelby County primary elections are in the early voting period and nearing the May 1 election day, but candidates in the August state and federal primaries are also campaigning. The August ballot includes four special elections for nonpartisan judicial positions – two Circuit Court judges, a Criminal Court judge and a General Sessions Criminal Court judge will be elected on the August ballot to fill vacancies in each of the divisions.

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) – A decade after the Pentagon began confronting rape in the ranks, the U.S. military frequently fails to protect or provide justice to the children of service members when they are sexually assaulted by other children on base, an Associated Press investigation has found.

3. Gibson Guitar Factory Sale Clears First Hurdle -

The Center City Revenue Finance Corp. approved a lease transfer request by the new owners of the Gibson Guitar Factory in Downtown Memphis on Tuesday Dec. 12, effectively clearing the way for the lengthy redevelopment process to begin.

4. Rodgers Takes Reins at Collierville Chamber -

Kanette Keough-Rodgers recently took over as president/CEO of the Collierville Chamber of Commerce after the chamber’s transition team selected her from more than 170 candidates.

In her new role, Rodgers is responsible for retaining and expanding chamber membership by ensuring members receive relevant, responsive and timely services, initiatives, programs and events. She is also responsible for forging and sustaining relationships with community, government and educational institutions.

6. RedRover Relocating to Falls Building -

RedRover Sales & Marketing’s business has grown considerably in recent years, so the firm has now set its sights on a new “doghouse.”

The firm is relocating from South Main into new space in the Falls Building Downtown, which beat out two other possible Downtown locations. The relocation is expected to be finished this fall – in October – and RedRover’s new home meets the needs of its growth plans in several ways.

NASHVILLE (AP) – Tennessee whiskey maker Jack Daniel's is donating more than $100,000 to pay for plane tickets and travel funds for soldiers at Fort Campbell, Ky., to spend the December holiday season with their families all over the country.

David M. Schuermann, AIA, NCARB, principal at Architecture Inc., has been named chairman of the Tennessee Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners.

NASHVILLE (AP) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol's leadership says it wants to rename the agency the Tennessee State Patrol because its role has evolved beyond traffic enforcement in the years since it was established in 1929.

Lauren Mabon has joined Leadership Memphis as marketing coordinator.

Prior to joining Leadership Memphis, Mabon served as a marketing executive in the marketing and communications department at Primacy Relocation.

12. FedEx Institute of Technology Names Mandle Executive Director -

Shaye R. Mandle has been named executive director of the FedEx Institute of Technology at the University of Memphis. Previously, he worked for the Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), where he led the business activities of SAIC's Reconnaissance and Surveillance Operation. Mandle has worked as a district director for the former speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, Dennis Hastert, and as a legislative liaison to the Illinois Department of Revenue.

Memphian Terri Murphy, a 28-year real estate veteran, author and speaker, is one of 100 authors included in Donald Trump's latest book "Trump: The Best Real Estate Advice I Ever Received."
