NEW YORK (AP) – The Securities and Exchange Commission is now saying that at least two people had their personal information stolen in the breach that happened last year.
The SEC disclosed on September 20 that hackers last year broke into its system that allows companies to digitally upload their documents, commonly known as EDGAR. Originally government investigators believed that no individuals' information was stolen, but an investigation after the original disclosure found that not to be the case, the SEC said in a statement Monday.

NEW YORK (AP) – The Securities and Exchange Commission said Wednesday that a cyber breach of a filing system it uses may have provided the basis for some illegal trading in 2016.
In a statement posted on the SEC's website, Chairman Jay Clayton said a review of the agency's cybersecurity risk profile determined that the previously detected "incident" was caused by "a software vulnerability" in its EDGAR filing system.

President Barack Obama carried Shelby County in unofficial Nov. 6 election returns as his Republican challenger Mitt Romney took the state’s 11 electoral votes.
Voter turnout in the most popular election cycle among Shelby County voters was 61.9 percent, about the same percentage as four years ago. But the 371,256 voters is fewer than 2008 when more than 400,000 Shelby County voters cast ballots. The percentage is about the same because there are fewer registered voters in Shelby County than there were four years ago after a purge by election officials.

Eight of the 16 state House seats had only one candidate - the incumbent. And all three of the state Senate seats on the ballot were incumbent-only affairs.
