KNOXVILLE – All seemed so right for the University of Tennessee’s football team for 36 hours or so after last Saturday’s 50-16 victory over Kentucky at Neyland Stadium.
UT (5-5, 2-4 SEC) won its second straight conference game and moved within one victory of gaining bowl eligibility for the first time since 2010.

From the Tigers’ perspective, what wasn’t there to like about a resounding 83-52 victory over Central Florida Friday evening in the semifinals of the Conference USA Tournament at FedExForum?
The Tigers led by as many as 38 points near game’s end and their defense rendered the Knights helpless. Coach Josh Pastner was able to find minutes for Adonis Thomas, playing just his second game since returning from an ankle injury. And Pastner was able to empty his bench. The closest thing to a negative? Forgotten forward Stan Simpson collecting three fouls in his five minutes of playing time.

MEMPHIS (AP) – The Memphis Tigers wanted to make sure Central Florida did not have a chance to beat them on a last-second play this time.
Will Barton had 18 points and 11 rebounds, Memphis shot better than 60 percent most of the second half and the Tigers won their third straight with a 84-55 victory over the Knights on Tuesday night.
