2. Last Word: Bell at the Grammys, Old Dominick's Return and Luttrell & Strickland -

Memphis at the Grammys: William Bell was performer, presenter and winner at the Grammys Sunday evening. Gary Clark Jr. joined Bell to perform Bell’s calling card, “Born Under A Bad Sign” and the duo then presented a Grammy to Beyonce. In the non-televised Grammy awards, Bell won for Best Americana album for his Stax effort “This Is Where I Live.”

3. Students Get Leadership Lessons With Sonima Tour -

Memphis-area students are getting a lesson in how to become tomorrow’s leaders with the Live Sonima Tour, a collaboration with the Sonima Foundation that allows young people to access the tools and inspiration necessary to become better students, leaders and individuals.

4. St. George's to Host Musician Caroline Jones -

St. George’s Independent School is hosting Caroline Jones, a New York City-based singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer, Friday, Nov. 2.

Jones, the daughter of hedge fund manager Paul Tudor Jones and the niece of The Daily News owner Peter Schutt, will spend the day visiting all three St. George’s campuses. She’s the featured artist for a music program in memory of a student, Rebecca Meriwether Cooper Klyce, who died while in the first grade at St. George’s.

5. Law School Celebrates 50 Years -

At the end of this month, the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law will celebrate half a century of preparing young legal minds for the future challenges they’ll face in the field of law.

6. Ciaramitaro Joins Grace-St. Luke’s as School Counselor -

Licensed clinical social worker Courtney Ciaramitaro has joined Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal School as school counselor. She will work primarily with middle school students.

The Southaven Chamber of Commerce will hold its quarterly luncheon Tuesday, May 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Landers Center, 4560 Venture Drive in Southaven. University of Memphis head football coach Justin Fuente will speak. Cost is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers. The man who correctly predicted the stock market convulsion of 1987, a veteran hedge fund manager who today is one of the richest men in America, held up a notebook at a celebration in his honor late last week.

U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen will host the Federal Procurement Fair Monday, April 30, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the University of Memphis FedEx Institute of Technology, 365 Innovation Drive. Rising star Caroline Jones’ performance Saturday, April 28, at Germantown Performing Arts Centre’s 2012 Gala will be a homecoming of sorts for the New York-based singer-songwriter.

11. Wright Takes Helm of Suburban Community Newspapers -

Scott A. Wright has been named chairman and CEO of Suburban Community Newspapers Group (SCN), which includes 11 weekly newspapers in the Memphis metro and north Mississippi areas. Some of the papers are The Shelby Sun Times, The Collierville Independent and The East Shelby Review. Wright previously was publisher of 17 Dallas and Ft.Worth-area daily and weekly newspapers in the Star Community Newspapers group.
