The local brewery was one of 42 new and renewing BFBs announced last week, joining a group of 1,265 local businesses, government agencies, and Fortune 500 companies in 49 states and Washington, D.C., to transform the American workplace.

Revive the beer garden, and they will come. If the soft opening held on Tuesday night, April 7, was any indication, then Tennessee Brewery: The Revival will have a nice run this spring.
Taking advantage of warm temperatures, patrons packed the pop-up beer garden at the recently purchased Tennessee Brewery at 495 Tennessee St. Among those milling about: Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell, city councilman Myron Lowery, and members of the Grizzlies’ front office.

An artistic Midtown neighborhood has designs on creating a second “landmark” gateway.
The Cooper-Young Historic District, which several years ago unveiled the permanent installation of artwork atop a trestle over Cooper Street, has launched an effort to create a second piece of railroad art, this time a mural on the expansive underpass on South McLean Boulevard near Central Avenue.

The Tennessee Regulatory Authority has approved a petition to invest $400,000 in statewide startup costs for a community services referral line. By mid-summer, Tennesseans in all 95 counties should be able to call 2-1-1 to get referrals for such things as counseling, domestic violence, employment assistance, food, shelter and crisis intervention. The line already is up and running in 36 counties. By the middle of the summer, coverage will be expanded to Memphis and other cities.
