The Morris and Mollye Fogelman International Jewish Film Festival continues with a screening of “An Act of Defiance” Thursday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. at the Malco Ridgeway Cinema Grill, 5853 Ridgeway Center Parkway. 5. Iconic E. Memphis Office Building Sells for $19.7M -

Nashville-based Magnolia Capital Investments has purchased the Trustmark Centre located at 5350 Poplar Ave. from Israeli investors, Faropoint Ventures. Faropoint intends to reinvest proceeds from the sale to buy other Memphis properties.

6. Trezevant Celebrates 40 Years, Expanded Services -

For Jet Thompson, living at the Trezevant senior living community is part of a family tradition. She has been a resident there for the past 16 years – recently celebrating her 96th birthday – her mother had lived there for 20 years starting in 1981, and now two of her daughters are on the waiting list for admission.

Two local businesses that are looking to grow their footprint in traditionally underserved areas of Memphis are seeking forgivable loans for building improvements from the Economic Development Growth Engine for Memphis and Shelby County.

8. Transcript: CBU to Transform Campus, Transition to Project-Based Learning -

Christian Brothers University is not only changing the look of its campus at Central Avenue and East Parkway. Leaders of the institution are embarking on the second phase of a $70 million capital campaign that includes plans to “blow up” the university’s department of education to include Crosstown High School and the neighboring Middle College High School, extend internships to all students and to create a new library that is more than “air conditioning for books.”

The Memphis development community is looking inward and upward to increase density in the urban core. New construction is happening across all four commercial real estate sectors, with long-anticipated projects like Trader Joe’s and the redevelopment of Central Station finally coming to fruition. Construction and operating costs continue to be a challenge as new projects hit the top of their class to command higher rents.

When Southaven Mayor Darren Musselwhite took office in June 2013, one of the first tasks that landed on his desk was a long-planned regional outlet mall.
