SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Oil refiner Valero Energy Corp. said it has closed on the sale of an ethanol plant in Albion, Neb., the last of seven it's purchasing from VeraSun Energy Corp.

4. Valero Q1 Profit Jumps 18 Pct But Revenue Tumbles -

HOUSTON (AP) - Valero Energy Corp. said Tuesday its first-quarter profit rose more than 18 percent, easily beating Wall Street expectations as higher margins for turning crude into gasoline offset weak demand for a variety of refined products.

5. VeraSun Closes Sale of 5 Ethanol Plants to Valero -

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - VeraSun Energy Corp. says it has closed on the sale of five ethanol plants and one development site to traditional refiner Valero Energy Corp.

6. Refiner Valero to Obtain 7 VeraSun Plants -

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota (AP) - Valero Energy will buy seven ethanol plants from VeraSun Energy for $477 million, the largest biofuel buyout in terms of production capacity.

VeraSun, the second largest U.S. ethanol producer, filed for bankruptcy protection in October.

7. Treasurys Edge Up After Manufacturing Contraction -

NEW YORK (AP) - Treasury prices rose modestly in quiet trading Monday after a bleaker-than-expected reading on the manufacturing sector, but investors avoided making large bets ahead of Tuesday's presidential election. Meanwhile, key interbank lending rates extended their declines, a sign of further easing in the credit markets.
