Collection boxes have been placed at 51 Mapco convenience stores in the Memphis area. Memphians are encouraged to leave new, unwrapped toys at participating locations through Dec. 15. Toys will be distributed Dec. 17 from the Olympic Tax office in White Haven.

Following what has become a pattern, the local commercial real estate market in September was salvaged by one large deal that offset an otherwise dreary month.
This time it was Resource Real Estate Inc. to the rescue. The Philadelphia-based company bought the Wyndridge Apartments for $9.5 million Sept. 29 and carried the weight for Shelby County’s commercial activity during the month.

But starting this week, MAPCO Express Inc. will begin tearing down the MAPCO store at 1691 Poplar Ave. to make way for a revamped version of its traditional convenience stores.
