1. RVC Outdoor Submits Ambitious Mud Island Plan -

RVC Outdoor Destinations, the Memphis-based company headed by Andy Cates, is proposing a conservancy for Mud Island River Park similar to the Overton Park Conservancy. And its proposal seeks an agreement directly with the city for his company to develop the park, bypassing the Riverfront Development Corp.

2. Memphis Candidates Prepare To Spend -

How much a candidate raises in an election season attracts a lot of attention, and the second-quarter fundraising numbers for the Oct. 8 Memphis elections are still trickling out.

The reports were due July 10 but some are still arriving at the Shelby County Election Commission website. And in some cases, the reports are incomplete, showing amounts raised but not amounts spend and on hand as of July 1.

3. Memphis Filing Deadline Features Last-Minute Shifts, Intrigue -

The decision Tuesday, July 14, by a sixth Memphis City Council member to pass up a place on the Oct. 8 ballot has added some intrigue on the way to the noon Thursday, July 16, filing deadline for the Memphis elections.

4. Construction Honors Industry’s Best -

Among the holding pattern of construction nationwide, local contractors appear to be holding their own.

The West Tennessee Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors Inc. held its 24th annual Excellence in Construction Awards Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Pink Palace Museum, 3050 Central Ave., recognizing the top merit shop construction projects by local ABC members. The awards honored all members of the team responsible for the projects, from contractors to subcontractors, suppliers to owners, and engineers to architects.

5. GreenScape Promotes Colvett to President -

Frank Colvett Jr. has been promoted to president of GreenScape Inc.

Colvett previously was executive vice president and corporate treasurer. He has been with GreenScape since 1992 and also has served the company in various capacities including project manager, estimator and vice president of marketing. His civic and community activities include serving as treasurer of the Tennessee Republican Party, and as a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church and the University Club of Memphis.

6. Colvett Named Greenscape President -

Frank Colvett Jr. has been promoted to president of GreenScape Inc.

Colvett previously was executive vice president and corporate treasurer. He has been at GreenScape since 1992 and has served in various capacities including project manager, estimator and vice president of marketing.

7. Visible School Names Ellis To Modern Music Ministry Faculty -

Bill Ellis has been hired to the Visible School faculty in the Modern Music Ministry program.

Ellis will teach guitar, the history of pop music and hands-on courses in world music and ethnomusicology.
