1. Archer Malmo, Y&R Memphis, Red Deluxe Big Winners at ADDYs -

Results in the 2018 AAF Memphis American Advertising Awards competition show Memphis companies collected plenty of hardware, but the big winners were Red Deluxe Brand Development, Archer Malmo and Y&R Memphis, which all won “Best of” category honors and a total of 67 awards combined.

2. Last Word: Changes Behind Highland Row, Lee Harris Opens and Ron Olson Moves -

Shelby County Commission chairwoman Heidi Shafer says the commission, through its attorneys, is in ‘the final stages of launching litigation” against big pharma over the opioid problem locally. And in a written statement Thursday she said she believes the litigation “will result in significant recovery for hundreds of millions of dollars that Shelby County has spent trying to heal, save, nurse and otherwise deal with the opioid crisis.” Shafer specifically announced the hiring on a contingency basis of a national law firm.

3. Entercom Launches ‘Fantasy Kickoff’ -

Entercom Memphis has started a new live local show called “Fantasy Kickoff” on ESPN 790 AM. “Fantasy Kickoff,” which airs Sundays at 11 a.m., is hosted by Ben Hogan and produced and co-hosted by Bennett Doyle.

4. Miller Named Partner at Signature Advertising -

Kevin Miller, creative director at Signature Advertising, has been named a partner at the Memphis-based agency. Miller joined Signature more than 10 years ago as a senior copywriter and has won numerous awards for creative excellence.

5. Entercom Launches ESPN 790 AM -

Entercom Memphis has launched ESPN 790 AM, offering around-the-clock national sports coverage and national ESPN personalities to complement its local station 92.9 FM ESPN.

Among the personalities and shows that will air on 790 AM: Colin Cowherd, Van Pelt & Russillo, The Dan Le Batard Show and a special broadcast of the Paul Finebaum Show. Local sports content and personalities can be heard on sister stations 92.9 FM ESPN and 680 AM.

7. Levy Named Assistant Dean in U of M School of Public Health -

Dr. Marian Levy has been named assistant dean of students and public health practice for the University of Memphis School of Public Health. Levy is also an associate professor in the school and is the current president of the Tennessee Public Health Association.

8. Grizzlies Games Move to ESPN Radio -

The Memphis Grizzlies have reached a multi-year radio broadcasting agreement with Entercom Communications Corp. to simulcast all Grizzlies games on 92.9 FM ESPN/680 AM ESPN beginning with the 2011-2012 season.

9. FM100 Receives New Afternoon Host -

Entercom Memphis has appointed Chris Michaels as program director and afternoon drive host for WMC-FM FM100.

Michaels makes the move from WABB in Mobile (Ala.)/Pensacola (Fla.) where he was program director and afternoon drive host. He formerly worked at Jacksonville’s WAPE and WERO, as well as WDCG-FM in North Carolina. He has also worked with some premier broadcasters and consultants over the course of his career, including Randy Lane (former FM100 program director), Zapoleon Media Strategies and more.

10. Firm Wants to Bring Top Talent to Memphis -

Chris Chotard sees himself as a coach recruiting members to business teams throughout Memphis.

He founded his company, Top Notch, last year to bring the brightest college students to Memphis to spend eight weeks working for some of the most well known mid-level companies in the city.

11. Carpenter Finds New Creative Life With Latest Venture -

Seven months after leaving the advertising agency that bore his name, Doug Carpenter has quietly hung out the shingle for his new venture, Doug Carpenter & Associates.

13. Entercom’s Move Done by Feb., GM Says -

In 2006, Entercom Memphis LLC acquired three radio stations, doubling its broadcast footprint. Earlier this year, it signed a lease to move into 18,000 square feet at Moriah Woods business park, doubling its office space.

14. Boyle Buys Ridgeway Office Building -

Boyle Investment Co. has bought the 10,417-square-foot office building at 5904 Ridgeway Center and an adjacent vacant parcel for $1.3 million in a special warranty deed from Entercom Memphis LLC. The sale closed last week.

15. Goldstein Named MAAR Associate of the Year -

Crye-Leike Realtors associate Pat Goldstein has been awarded the 2006 Realtor Associate of the Year Award by the Memphis Area Association of Realtors. Goldstein has worked as an agent for 23 years and specializes in residential, relocation, first-time homebuyers and new home real estate sales.

Glenna Rogers-Ward was named Ad Woman of the Year by the Memphis Advertising Federation at the group's 2005 Pyramid Awards. The June ceremony celebrated extraordinary achievements and professionalism in the field of advertising.
