1. 4 More Historic Tennessee Sites Added to National Register -

MEMPHIS (AP) — Four more sites in Tennessee, including one in Memphis, have been added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The National Trust Life Insurance Co. Building in Memphis was completed in 1963. The five-story structure is made of concrete, marble, metal and glass. The property is awaiting redevelopment.

For almost 60 years, Hollywood and Avery has been where public education in Shelby County was run from. One of the most symbolic moments of the historic change in public education five years ago was opening up the long-closed doors that connected the offices of the Memphis City Schools system with the offices of the Shelby County Schools system in the same building.

3. 5 Tennessee sites join National Register of Historic Places -

NASHVILLE (AP) — Five Tennessee sites, including one in Memphis, have been added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Tennessee Historical Commission says the American Snuff Factory in Memphis includes nine buildings constructed between 1912 and 1957. It's now privately owned, awaiting reuse.

The Memphis-based maker of Grizzly dipping tobacco is supporting nonprofit efforts to help families fleeing domestic violence.

American Snuff Co., a Memphis-based manufacturer of smokeless tobacco products, recently donated $10,000 to local nonprofit Agape Child & Family Services’ Families in Transition (FIT) program, which serves homeless and imminently homeless families, particularly those fleeing domestic violence.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Several anti-smoking groups are suing the Food and Drug Administration over a decision by Trump administration officials to delay the review of e-cigarettes.

The lawsuit filed Tuesday in federal court argues that the FDA didn't follow proper requirements last year when it decided to push back the deadline for makers of e-cigarettes to submit their products for review. The groups say the delay poses a threat to children's health.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Government health officials will team up with minor league baseball as part of a new $36 million campaign to discourage rural teenagers from using chewing tobacco.

Baseball stadiums will feature the campaign's central message this summer – "smokeless doesn't mean harmless" – via advertising and promotions with players. Ads will also run on local television, radio and online in 35 markets across the U.S., including cities in Michigan, Montana, South Carolina and Tennessee.

24. American Snuff Files 2nd Permit in 2 Weeks -

Memphis-based American Snuff LLC, owned by Reynolds American, has filed a second permit in two weeks for its facility at 5106 Tradeport Ave. in Hickory Hill. The latest permit application filed with the city-county Office of Construction Code Enforcement is $1.4 million and covers tank pumps and pipeline control systems, among other things.
