1. New Book Spurs Call for Fresh Probe of Emmett Till Lynching -

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – The horrific 1955 Mississippi slaying of Emmett Till, which helped trigger the modern civil rights movement, should be re-investigated now that a key witness is quoted as saying she lied about what the black teen said and did before he was lynched, Till's relatives say.

2. Wright Joins Magna Bank as Senior Vice President -

Andy Wright has joined Memphis-based Magna Bank as senior vice president and manager of commercial banking. Wright, who previously held senior vice president positions at Iberiabank and First Tennessee Bank, has experience working with a variety of industries, with in-depth expertise in the transportation and logistics industries.

Every Wednesday “the bad elbow club” meets at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, joked Timothy Wright, professor of applied biomechanics in orthopedic surgery at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

6. Commission to Vote On New Judge -

The candidates will outnumber commissioners today when the Shelby County Board of Commissioners votes on a new General Sessions Criminal Court judge.

There are 15 candidates for the Division 10 judgeship that became vacant with the Jan. 2 death of veteran jurist Anthony Johnson. There are 13 county commissioners.
