Memphis video production company Running Pony has won seven national awards in the 39th Annual Telly Awards, in categories including Animation, Social Media and Branded Content.

DeltaARTS had its beginnings in 1972, in the home of founder of Bobbi Dodge. The Palazola name has been associated with produce in the Bluff City for more than a century.

In 1974, Mike Palazola founded M. Palazola Produce Co., a wholesaler and distributor of fresh fruits and vegetables to restaurants and institutional food service establishments in the Greater Memphis area, but his grandfather before him had delivered produce around the city out of his truck.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis (RMHC Memphis) has named eight recipients of the organization’s college scholarships for the 2017-2018 academic school year.

Three students will each receive a $2,500 RMHC Scholars Scholarship: Tuong Vo (Germantown High School), who will attend Emory University; Julia Byrd (Bartlett High School), who will attend the University of Memphis; and Hoang-Viet Tran (Arlington High School), who will attend Duke University.

In less than a week you will be able to make a left turn onto McLean Boulevard from Union Avenue eastbound and westbound. And the traffic signal that lets you do that will flash a yellow arrow that indicates you can turn left if there are no pedestrians and no cars coming the other way.

All of a sudden, it seems, Kroger has transformed itself from a traditional grocery retailer to a tech-savvy brand that’s comfortable on the cutting edge.

At the chain’s corporate office in Memphis on a recent afternoon, Jeff Evans, e-commerce manager for the Kroger Delta Division, was showing one shopper some of the bells and whistles Kroger put inside its mobile shopping app. One hassle, the shopper mused aloud, is that she makes her grocery list but then has to run back and forth across the store once she get there, since the list never seems to line up in order with the store layout.

29. U of M Athletes Again Average 3.0 GPA -

For the 10th consecutive semester, student-athletes at the University of Memphis posted a departmental GPA of at least 3.0, finishing the fall of 2015 with a 3.00 GPA.

Fifteen of the program’s 17 teams posted a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Tiger men’s tennis team led all men’s sports with a 3.5 GPA, while women’s soccer led the women’s teams with a 3.74 GPA.

35. Saudi Prince set to Visit Memphis Monday -

A member of the Saudi royal family, Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed, is scheduled to visit Memphis Monday, touring locations that include the Ronald McDonald House of Memphis.

The prince, who’s also the founder of private investment company KBW Investments, is set to tour the Ronald McDonald House facilities and have lunch with the organization’s staff, board members and founders. While there, he’ll also speak with families and learn about the organization’s history and mission, among other things.

Since World War II, 10 U.S. recessions have been followed by a recovery that lasted at least three years. An Associated Press analysis shows that by just about any measure, the one that began in June 2009 is the weakest.

The Big Scoop Ice Cream Festival raised more than $61,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Memphis.

The festival, in its 16th year, was held last weekend at AutoZone Park. More than 2,300 people attended the event, which included an assortment of ice cream flavors, live music, dance performances and magic demonstrations.
