Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis will host the 14th annual Valero Memphis Refinery Tool Box Bash on Friday, Jan. 15, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Memphis Botanic Garden, 750 Cherry Road. The Memphis Irish Society is enrolling for its 2016 Irish Gaelic class, set to begin Saturday, Jan. 9, in the Germantown area (contact for exact venue). The class is free, informal, and is open to all adults and children of middle-school age and older. It will meet most Saturdays throughout the year with some breaks. The relationship between the Grand Ole Opry – the 90-year-old radio program and down home variety show – and CMA Music Fest is a pretty simple formula.

4. Gubernatorial Candidates Campaign Locally -

Three of the contenders for Tennessee governor – one Democrat and two Republicans – were in Shelby County at the same time this week.

Democrat Kim McMillan of Clarksville and Republicans Zach Wamp of Chattanooga and Bill Haslam of Knoxville had full schedules of public and private meetings with supporters, business leaders and undecided potential voters in the August statewide primaries.

5. Wamp Announces Musical Headliners for Fundraisers -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Republican gubernatorial candidate Zach Wamp is lining up a series of upcoming fundraisers hosted by country and Christian music stars.

The congressman from Chattanooga announced Wednesday that six events in March and April will feature Michael W. Smith, Casting Crowns, John Rich, T. G. Sheppard, Paul Overstreet, Larry Gatlin and the Oak Ridge Boys.
