The last time Neil Young played Memphis, it was at the Mid-South Coliseum with a rockabilly band called the Shocking Pinks and Ronald Reagan was president.

Neil Young, Beck, Paul Simon, Train and Modest Mouse are among the headliners for the 2016 Beale Street Music Festival, April 29-May 1, in Tom Lee Park.

The University of Memphis will host Nobel Peace Prize recipient Jody Williams today at 4 p.m. in the Rose Theatre on campus. Williams was awarded the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for her work in clearing landmine fields and banning landmines in the future. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Nobel Peace Prize recipient Jody Williams will speak at the University of Memphis Feb. 20.

Williams was awarded the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize for her work in creating an international treaty for the clearing of antipersonnel landmine fields and banning landmines from being used in the future.

8. Peace is a Jam Session Not to Be Missed -

I don't consider myself a religious person - at least not in recent years - but I do have a favorite prayer that serves as the last bastion of my Catholic upbringing.

It's attributed to St. Francis of Assisi. Born in 1181 or 1182 in Italy, St. Francis is the founder of the Franciscan Order of priests. He would have been my patron saint if I'd ever made my confirmation, one of the seven sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church. The others include baptism, confession, communion, marriage, holy orders and last rites.
