1. Weaver Joins Paragon Bank As Senior Loan Officer -

Steve Weaver has been appointed senior vice president, senior loan officer, at Paragon Bank. He brings with him more than 27 years’ experience in the banking industry, most recently at Simmons Bank, where he served as Southwest Tennessee market president and spearheaded the institution’s entry into the Memphis market in 2013.

Last week we offered a prayer of support and a personal “thank you” to our military and all of the other brave men and women, who place their lives on the line each day to protect our freedoms. This week let us highlight an organization that is known for “doing the most good” and working everyday to fight hunger, homelessness, addiction, poverty and abuse: The Salvation Army.

The second annual Farm to Table Conference for Mid-South Producers will be held Monday, Feb. 6, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Memphis Bioworks Foundation conference enter, 20 Dudley St. The conference is a forum for farmers, consumers, entrepreneurs and other interested groups to discuss ideas for developing the local food system of Memphis and the Mid-South. The program will overview the civil liability organizations face when child sexual abuse accusations surface and will examine recent cases. Dr. Autry Parker has joined the pain management team at Semmes-Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute. Parker is a board certified, fellowship trained anesthesiologist, specializing in the treatment of severe and chronic pain.

10. U of M’s Heath Given Distinguished Teaching Award -

Dr. Julia Heath, professor of economics at the University of Memphis, has been honored with the Kenneth G. Elzinga Distinguished Teaching Award by the Southern Economic Association.

11. Knox St. Clair Prepares for Move To Bigger Facility -

When Knox St. Clair Millwork Distributors Inc. in June received its payment-in-lieu-of-taxes, or PILOT, approval, one of the considerations that won big points with the Memphis Shelby County Industrial Development Board (IDB) was where the company planned to move.
