1. Paragon Bank Reports Highlights, Decisive Turn at Annual Shareholders Meeting -

2014 proved a milestone year for Paragon Bank: The now 10-year-old institution saw a few decisive changes, the bank’s leadership reported at its annual shareholders meeting in recent days.

The Rotary Club of Memphis Central will meet Friday, June 3, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holiday Inn University of Memphis, 3700 Central Ave. Dana Baker, counselor at Whitehaven High School, will speak about “What every senior needs to know before applying for college.” Cost is $20 for nonmembers. 3. Local Artists Hold Art Studio Tours -

For the 11th year, the Rural Route Art Studio Tour will be held Friday through Sunday at the studios of the participating artists.

The studios include Deborah Fagan Carpenter, 4881 Canada Road; Agnes Stark Studio, 12675 Donelson Road; and the Eads Gallery, 12370 Washington Road.

4. Potters’ Tradition -

In the late 1970s, a small group of local artists who’d joined forces to form a potters’ guild planned a holiday show and sale to present their work to the public.

Little did they know, back then, that they were starting a tradition that would be going and growing three decades later.

The Memphis Potters’ Guild will hold its Spring Show & Sale today through Monday at the Memphis Botanic Garden, 750 Cherry Road. Tennessee Small Business Development Center will hold one-on-one counseling sessions with Mark Taylor today at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the Collierville Chamber of Commerce, 485 Halle Park Drive. The sessions are free but appointments are required. For appointments, call 853-1949.

7. Local Artists Set Up Seasonal Cooperative -

Several local artists are kicking off a Winter Arts cooperative this week at 5475 Poplar Ave., just east of Bud Davis Cadillac.

The South Main Art Trolley Tour will be held today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the South Main Arts District. Attendees can enjoy free trolley rides between the galleries and stores along South Main Street. Visit www.southmainmemphis.org for more information.

The Memphis Regional Chamber will host a breakfast forum today from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at The Hilton Memphis, 939 Ridge Lake Blvd. Jerry Collins, president and CEO of Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division, will speak about “EmPowering the City.” The event is $20 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers. The Memphis Botanic Garden will host “Tuesdays on the Terrace: Wine Tasting at the Garden” today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Garden, 750 Cherry Road. Hors d’oeuvres by Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse will be offered, along with a wine bar. The cost is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 636-4131.

Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park holds an open house today through Sunday at 910 Riddick Road in Millington, with hands-on activities and programs for the entire family. The park's hours are 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Many of the weekend's events are free, while some have a $1-per-person fee with reservations recommended.
