Uptown revitalization moves into final stages
The transformation has taken several years, been kept on track with the cooperation of the public and private sectors and will have required an investment of more than $200 million once it's all said and done.
It was only 50 years ago that DeSoto County was a collection of small, sleepy agrarian communities. But over half of a century, things have changed dramatically. And just in the past year, development has continued at a breakneck pace.

A five-story, 65,000-square-foot office building built in 1972. It sits on about 4 acres at the northwest corner of Poplar Avenue and Valleybrook Drive. Shelby County Assessor's 2006 appraisal was $3.9 million.
