The Daily News Claims Four Awards

The Daily News and The Memphis News earned first place honors over the weekend for editorials in the annual Tennessee Associated Press Managing Editors awards.

The editorials were judged the best among Division 3 newspapers across the state of Tennessee, newspapers with a circulation of up to 15,000.

The Daily News and The Memphis News also earned second place in the business news category among Division 3 newspapers for stories by Senior Reporter Bill Dries on the economic development boom in Byhalia, Miss., and surrounding Marshall County as well as a story on the mechtranonics trend in manufacturing.

The Daily News Online, www.memphisdailynews.com, was also awarded second place among Division 3 newspapers for best website.

Reporter Don Wade earned third place for outdoors sports coverage in Division 3.

The Associated Press awards mark the beginning of the awards season including the Tennessee Press Association awards as well as the regional Society of Professional Journalists’ Green Eyeshade Award for an 11-state region including Tennessee.
