CSC Sugar to Open Plant in Covington

CSC Sugar LLC will open a sugar processing plant Monday, June 30, in the Rialto Industrial Park in Covington, Tenn., that will hire 50 people and prompt the hiring of more drivers at Larry Bowman Trucking in nearby Ripley.

The announcement Thursday, June 26, by Tennessee Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty is the latest economic ripple from the presence of the Unilever ice cream plant in Covington, which is one of the world’s largest ice cream plants and is expanding.

Unilever is a substantial part of CSC’s customer base in West Tennessee.

CSC is investing $4 million in the Covington facility, its first in Tennessee.

With the announcement, CSC executives also said they are taking applications immediately for jobs at the new facility through the Hamilton Ryker employment agency in Covington.
