Campbell Clinic to Open in Cordova
By Don Wade
Campbell Clinic will open its fifth Memphis-area clinic in Cordova later this year, focused on a yet-to-be-determined orthopedics subspecialty.
“That’s a new concept for us, but certainly not in the industry,” said George Hernandez, Campbell Clinic chief executive officer.
The new clinic, expected to open in the fourth quarter, will be at 8000 Centerview Parkway, along the Walnut Grove corridor. The space has more than 17,000 square feet.
“We need to gut the entire space and rebuild it for our purposes,” Hernandez said. “We’ve just run out of space in all our current locations.”
The general plan for the new space calls for 16 exam rooms, about 4,000 square feet of physical therapy space, a waiting area with information kiosks, a computer and reading room, and other amenities for patients.
Campbell Clinic’s other four locations – in Germantown, Collierville, the Memphis Medical Center and Southaven – accommodate many orthopedics subspecialties, including pediatrics, sports medicine, arm and upper extremities, foot and ankle, total joint replacement and spine.
Hernandez said the Cordova location would not be limited to sports medicine, and that pediatrics, arm and upper extremities, foot and ankle, and spine were under consideration.
“We’re having some interesting discussions internally,” he said.
Hernandez said there are no other immediate expansion plans, but that with five available acres in Germantown, Campbell Clinic would likely expand that location sometime in the next three to five years.
Because the new clinic is less than two miles from the Germantown location, which offers extended hours, Hernandez said it’s likely the Cordova clinic will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
