Memphis in May to Honor Poland in 2015

The Memphis in May International Festival will honor Poland during the 2015 month-long festival.

Festival organizers announced the honored country Tuesday, Aug. 12, at the organization’s annual meeting at the Memphis Botanic Garden.

Wei Chen, the founder of Memphis-based Sunshine Enterprise Inc., is chairman of the board for the 2015 festival, which begins May 1-3 with the Beale Street Music Festival in Tom Lee Park.

The month of activities, which also features the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest and the Sunset Symphony, includes an education program focused on the honored country and school performances.

The second week of the festival, May 4-9, is International Week, which includes a salute to Poland.
