Businesspeople around the world are focused on entrepreneurship this month. November sees the yearly Global Entrepreneurship Week, with its attendant events and gatherings that all point towards supporting and encouraging entrepreneurship.

It’s not connected to the international celebration, but a one-day workshop for businesspeople this week in Memphis was arguably well-timed. The “Mastering the Rockefeller Habits” workshop Nov. 7 will focus on similar themes – helping businesspeople figure out what they need to know to help their businesses achieve a sustainable growth trajectory and take their companies to the next level.

The workshop will take place at the Fogelman Executive Center at the University of Memphis from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sponsors include The Daily News, Decosimo Certified Public Accountants and First Alliance Bank.

It’s being led by author, business coach and strategy expert Michael Synk, who will lay out for attendees topics including how to draft key elements of a strategy so that companies are poised for top line growth; how to build or review a brand promise and tune it for success; how to find cash in a company; how to determine if the right people are in the right seats at the company, and several other important goals.

Synk has spent the last decade as a business educator, coach and consultant. He also is certified by Gazelles International to teach a strategic planning model popularized by the book “Mastering the Rockefeller Habits” and offered through Gazelles International. That model refers to the key decisions that leadership teams have to get right in order to grow.

Participants at the event Nov. 7 will get a copy of the book “Mastering the Rockefeller Habits,” by Verne Harnish, as well as printed workshop tools and worksheets and a two hour follow-up coaching session. Greater Memphis Chamber members will have the opportunity to get special pricing, and alumni attendees get a free seat if they bring three additional team members with them.
