June Mortgages Up 8 Percent

June was a healthy month for the mortgage market in Shelby County. Last month saw 810 purchase mortgages made, an 8 percent improvement from 750 mortgages in June 2012, according to real estate information company Chandler Reports, www.chandlerreports.com.

June’s mortgage volume totaled almost $149 million, up from a little more than $129 million in June 2012. And the average mortgage amount between the two June periods rose to $183,773 last month from $172,423 in June 2012.

The top lenders in June were Magna Bank with 90 mortgages, Community Mortgage Corp. with 69 mortgages, BancorpSouth Bank with 47 mortgages and Wells Fargo with 40 mortgages.
