MEMPHIS (AP) – The Memphis Grizzlies have signed forward James Johnson of the NBA Development League's Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

The Grizzlies announced the move Monday.

The 6-foot-9, 245-pound Johnson has been averaging 18.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists in his 10 starts with Rio Grande Valley this season. Johnson has played 219 games in four seasons with Chicago, Toronto and Sacramento, and he was with Atlanta this preseason before being waived Oct. 21. Johnson was drafted by Chicago with the 16th selection overall in 2009 after two seasons at Wake Forest.

The Grizzlies currently are without center Marc Gasol and reserve swingman Quincy Pondexter is out indefinitely due to injuries.
