March Mortgages Drop 8 Percent

From March 2012 to March 2013, the number of mortgages made in Shelby County dropped 8 percent – from 649 to 597.

March 2013 mortgage volume totaled a little more than $100 million, though, up from a little more than $97 million in March 2012.

The average mortgage amount between the two March periods rose from $149,915 in March 2012 to $167,716 in March 2013.

The top lenders in March 2013 were Community Mortgage Corp. with 69 mortgages, Magna Bank with 54 mortgages, Patriot Bank with 30 mortgages and Wells Fargo with 28 mortgages.
