Houston-based retailer AA Concepts Inc. will soon fill the space to the east of Urban Outfitters Inc. at the gateway to the Cooper-Young community in Midtown.

A $24,000 building permit has been filed with the city/county Office of Construction Code Enforcement for single-tenant infill for AA Concepts at 2155 Central Ave. The owner listed on the application is Central Cooper Gate Way Inc. – the corporate entity that owns the building and is led by president Charlie Ryan.

AA Concepts is the parent company of boutiques Wish, Duo, Method and Maude. There are 10 stores in all, according to the website.

Wish opened in a 3,574-square-foot space in The Shops of Saddle Creek in July 2008. The women’s fashion retailer sells clothing and accessories and is decorated with vintage items throughout the store.

Davina Hirsh, brand manager of AA Concepts, declined comment on the building permit. She did, however, tell The Daily News in May that the plans for the store would be a new and different concept from Wish.

Ryan inked an 11,490-square-foot lease with Urban Outfitters in September 2010. The Philadelphia-based retailer, which sells an eclectic and funky mix of clothing and home merchandise, opened at 2151 Central last spring.

Ryan, who serves as vice president of the Cooper-Young Business Association and has been involved in the area for more than 20 years, told The Daily News in March that he had a tenant under contract to fill Urban Outfitter’s adjacent 2,500-square-foot bay to the east.

He also said he was in the midst of planning a “good solution” to the parking concerns of Cooper-Young, among other deals that he hopes will enhance the area.

“There’s some good news coming up in Cooper-Young’s corner,” Ryan said. “There are a couple of tenants that are kind of exciting.”
