Tupelo Officials Issue Hundreds of Code Violations
TUPELO, Miss. (AP) – Tupelo code enforcement officers have issued property owners 336 warnings about 591 separate violations since the start of the year.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports the Tupelo Development Services Department's code enforcement division intensified efforts this year to stop some of the most common infractions as part of an citywide beautification effort.
Among the most widespread problems were zoning violations, outside storage and dilapidated structures. Together, code enforcement officer Lynda Ford says they accounted for three-fourths of the total violations.
Ford says a majority of property owners corrected the issues after receiving warning letters. Those who didn't received citations. She says 37 have been written so far this year.
