Great American Steamboat Co., the enterprise that’s newly headquartered Downtown in One Commerce Square and which is bringing riverboating back to the Mississippi River, is planning to hire more than 300 new employees for “the grandest, most opulent riverboat in the world.”

That’s according to Great American Steamboat senior vice president of sales, marketing and product development Tim Rubacky, who wrote on the company’s blog that a career fair will be held in Memphis during the third week of February, with details forthcoming. It’s to prepare for the arrival of the revived steamer the American Queen, which enters service in April.

The company is looking to fill roles that include housekeeping, culinary, technical crew positions and front- and back-of-the-house slots.

“We offer attractive compensation packages, comprehensive health and medical benefits, convenient shift rotations and tremendous opportunities for advancement and growth,” Rubacky wrote.

The company has already started staffing up its crew and officers that will man the American Queen. Between now and March, the rest of the positions will get filled.
