The MED Foundation has announced the lineup for its upcoming gala, “Med Night, A Soul Celebration – Soul Food, Soulful Sounds and The Soul Train Scramble Board.”

Thelma Houston, The Temptations, The Four Tops and The 5th Dimension are slated to perform at the event, which will take place March 31 at The Peabody hotel.

Scramble board contestants Channel 3 weatherman Todd Demers, V101’s Stan Bell and 103.5’s Myron Mays revealed the artists’ names before a room of hospital executives, board members, and members of the media at The Regional Medical Center’s Adams Pavilion Building on Tuesday morning.

Those in attendance included MED president and CEO Dr. Reginald Coopwood, The MED Foundation’s executive director Tammie Ritchey, and the foundation’s new development director, Joe Brandenburg.

“It was a great party last year, and it’s going to be an even greater party this year,” said Drexel Chemical CEO and longtime MED Foundation supporter Leigh Shockey, who, along with Susan Arney, is again co-chairing the event.

Last year’s sold-out gala doubled as a star-studded 60th birthday bash for event headliner and two-time Grammy Award winner Peabo Bryson.

Proceeds from the event will benefit a multitude of services provided by the public hospital, including the Dr. Sheldon B. Korones Newborn Center – one of the nation’s oldest and largest neonatal intensive care units – and the Firefighters Regional Burn Center and Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma Center, the only burn center and level-one trauma center in a 150-mile radius.
