Iberiabank is moving its Cordova branch out from behind the shadow of a rival – literally.
The Iberiabank branch at 1605 Germantown Parkway is being relocated a little more than a mile south of that location into a vacant space formerly occupied by Trust One Bank, which closed several of its locations recently.
Greg Smithers, Iberiabank’s Memphis-area market president, said the bank’s lease was up and he wanted to move the branch to a more prominent space.
“At the old site, we were behind a Bank of America and beside a wings shop,” he said. “When you tell people where to find you and you start out with, ‘Do you know where Bank of America is? We’re behind them,’ obviously that’s not ideal. This way, we now have frontage and we’ll be right on Germantown Road.”
Smithers said construction is already finished and it should re-open for business in early May.
“It’s a great time if you’re wanting to buy real estate or lease real estate,” he said. “This is one of our three branches.”
• In other news, Metropolitan Bank has opened its new Mississippi headquarters.
It’s in a newly built 15,500-square-foot building that’s home to the bank’s executive officers, including commercial and personal banking and mortgage lending. The new office has a total of 19 associates.
Metropolitan – which is co-headquartered in Ridgeland, Miss., and in Memphis – used design and construction firms local to the Jackson, Miss., metro area for the new space. Artwork from several Jackson-area artists also decorates the space inside.
“When clients walk into this office, we want it to feel different from any other bank —from any other building, in fact,” said Metropolitan president and CEO Curt Gabardi. “Our clients bank on their own terms, and it is that intentionally simple strategy around which we based the whole concept of the new headquarters.”
The bank will host an open house for the new office May 17, and clients, friends and neighbors will be invited to attend.
• Additionally, The J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Financial Advisor Satisfaction Study has ranked Edward Jones highest in Employee Advisor Satisfaction among financial investment firms.

• Meanwhile, new local financial services-related hires of late include Keith Dillihunt, hired recently by First Alliance Bank as senior vice president and commercial loan officer.
Dillihunt will be responsible for expanding the bank’s commercial loan capabilities. He brings to his new job a strong background in commercial lending, business banking and relationship management, according to the bank, and he previously served as a commercial lender with both First Tennessee Bank and AmSouth Bank.
