The Peabody hotel will host a Thanksgiving Day brunch Thursday, Nov. 24, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the mezzanine at the hotel, 149 Union Ave. Cost is $55 for adults and $20 for children. For reservations, call 529-3668. Thanksgiving Day dinner at the Capriccio Grill is from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Cost is $40 for adults and $15 for children. For reservations, call 529-4199. Thanksgiving Day dinner at Chez Philippe is $70 per person and includes a four-course menu. For reservations, call 529-4188. A Christmas tree-lighting ceremony will be held Friday, Nov. 25, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the hotel. The ceremony is free and open to the public.

The Madison Hotel will host Thanksgiving dinner Thursday, Nov. 24, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the hotel, 79 Madison Ave. The menu will feature a choice of three main entrees as well as a choice of soup, salad and dessert. Meals will range from $38 to $44. Children between ages 6 and 12 are $15.95, and children under 6 are free. For reservations, call 333-1224.

WinterArts 2011 will hold a gala reception Friday, Nov. 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Shops of Saddle Creek, 2055 West St. The festivities will mark the opening of the artists’ market. Starry Nights will run Friday, Nov. 25, through Dec. 30 at Shelby Farms Park. Starry Nights will be open Sundays through Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and Mondays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The annual light show will feature 1.5 million environmentally friendly LED lights. The Mid-South Ice House will host Have a White Christmas at the Ice House – where guests can skate with Santa, meet a polar bear, build a snowman and more – Friday, Nov. 25, through Dec. 24 at the Mid-South Ice House, 10705 Ridgeway Industrial Road. The Ice House will be a collection site for the Mid-South Food Bank Dec. 17 through Dec. 24, and visitors who donate a can of food will receive $1 off admission. A veterans benefit seminar will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Page Robbins Adult Day Care Center, 1961 S. Houston Levee Road. Jim Swain, president of the Academy of VA Pension Planners, will speak about navigating the waters of the Veterans Affairs regarding pension benefits. The seminar is free, but seats are limited.
