Gov. Haslam to Meet With GOP Lawmakers at Mansion
AP
NASHVILLE (AP) – Gov. Bill Haslam was scheduled to host a dinner meeting Tuesday evening with Republican legislative leaders at the governor's mansion in Nashville.
The Republican governor said the GOP meeting will be followed by a similar meeting with Democratic legislative leaders on Wednesday.
Haslam's chief of staff Claude Ramsey was scheduled to meet with reporters after Tuesday's dinner to discuss its purpose.
Former Gov. Phil Bredesen held weekly breakfasts with legislative leaders of both parties during the legislative session. The Democrat considered the content of those meetings to be private, and would often bristle when details were leaked to the press.
