NORCROSS, Ga. (AP) – FedEx Corp. broke ground in Norcross for a distribution facility the company expects to employ 240 workers and 75 contractors when it opens next year.
Gov. Nathan Deal joined with company officials on Friday as ground was broken for the $55 million facility.
The 215,000-square-foot facility is designed to process 15,000 packages per hour, and have the capacity to dispatch 75 pickup and delivery vans each day.
Company officials say Norcross was selected because of its proximity to major highways and customer distribution operations.
FedEx says the new facility is part of a nationwide network expansion to boost daily package volume capacity and enhance the speed and service capabilities of the FedEx Ground network.
