Setterlund, Link Get SCS Promotions
By Bill Dries
Shelby County Schools superintendent John Aitken has promoted long-time Collierville High School principal Tim Setterlund as the school system’s assistant superintendent of research, planning and transition.
Setterlund was one of two promotions to Aitken’s executive staff with an eye on the coming consolidation of Shelby County Schools and Memphis City Schools.
The other promotion is Laura Link who goes from director of professional development to assistant superintendent of teaching, learning and professional development.
Link and Setterlund each have been attending recent meetings of the schools consolidation planning commission.
Link was part of Aitken’s presentation last month of the school system’s intervention strategy to improve the performance of students during the same school year they show problems.
Collierville High School vice principal Becky Kenley will serve as interim principal of the school for the rest of the school year.
Aitken also announced that Riverdale Elementary principal David Carlisle will retire effective Jan. 2 after leading the school since 1983. Riverdale assistant principal Joseph Bond will be interim principal.
