The MED Completes Executive Team

The Regional Medical Center at Memphis has announced its executive team is now complete following the recent appointment of a new chief medical officer and senior vice president of human resources.

Getto

Dr. Carl Getto has joined The MED as chief medical officer. Prior to coming to Memphis, Getto served as senior vice president of medical affairs at University of Wisconsin Hospital & Clinics since 2001.

A graduate of Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, he completed his residencies at the University of Colorado Medical Center and earned a master’s degree in management at the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University. Getto, whose medical specialty is psychiatry, has also held teaching and dean positions at medical schools in Colorado, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Boyd

Fred Boyd has been named senior vice president of human resources for The MED. He joined the public hospital in 2010, serving in his current role on an interim basis. Boyd’s experience includes working with corporations in all aspects of human resources, including employee relations, performance management and organizational effectiveness management.

Boyd previously worked as a consultant and had a lengthy career in employee relations in the banking industry. Boyd, who holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, is certified in senior professional human resources and is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management.
