The Tennessee Department of Revenue will host its next free bimonthly business workshop today from 9 a.m. to noon in the Memphis Training Room of the Renaissance Business Center, 555 Beale St. The workshop is designed to help people encountering business-related taxes for the first time. The Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Small Business Sector meeting today at noon at First Tennessee Bank, 7640 Poplar Ave. in Germantown.


The Mid-South Red Cross is honoring Red Cross Month with classes to certify people in CPR and First Aid training. A course on "Fundamentals of Instructor Training," an instructor course prerequisite, will be offered today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Red Cross Building, 1400 Central Ave. The cost is $40. The Association of Fundraising Professionals will host a luncheon today at 11:30 a.m. at Christian Brothers University. Suzanne Copeland, senior vice president of strategic marketing communications for First Tennessee, will present "Securing For-Profit Funding for Non-Profits: An Insider's Guide to the Corporate Jungle." The Methodist Healthcare Foundation will host its annual Stan Patterson Art of Medicine Lectureship Friday at 8 a.m. at the Medical Education & Research Institute, 44 S. Cleveland St. Dr. Javier R. Kane, the director of Palliative and End-of-Life Care at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, will present "Medical Decision-Making in the Care of Suffering." Seating is limited.
