Union Local Ratifies Labor Agreement With Kroger Co.

MEMPHIS (AP) - Grocery store operator Kroger Co. on Monday said its Memphis-based union has ratified a new contract with the company.

The four-year contract with the UFCW Local 1529 covers over 7,500 workers in 72 stores in parts of Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky and Mississippi. It is effective immediately.

The Cincinnati-based company operates 2,487 supermarkets and multi-department stores in 31 states under two dozen local banners, including Ralphs, Fred Meyer, Food 4 Less, King Soopers, Smith's, Fry's, Dillons, QFC and City Market.
