Bill Would Require Bittering Agent Be Added to Antifreeze
AP
NASHVILLE (AP) - A bittering agent would be added to antifreeze under a proposal that passed the Senate.
The measure sponsored by Sen. Raymond Finney, R-Maryville, was unanimously approved on Wednesday. Manufacturers that don't comply would be fined.
Finney said the measure is necessary to deter children and animals from drinking antifreeze, which has a sweet taste.
The companion legislation is in a House committee.
