$5 Strip Club Fee Proposal Delayed in State House
AP
NASHVILLE (AP) - Constitutional questions are delaying a proposal to charge a $5 fee on strip club customers.
Rep. Mike Turner says his proposal is based on a similar tax that is facing a legal challenge in Texas.
But the Nashville Democrat agreed to request an attorney general's opinion on whether the state can single out a specific form of entertainment for a higher tax rate.
Legislative analysts estimate that the 50 adult-oriented establishments in the state attract more than 1 million visitors per year.
