Rep. Susan Lynn to Run for State Senate

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (AP) - Republican Rep. Susan Lynn has announced she will run for the state Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Mae Beavers next year.
Lynn, of Mt. Juliet, will have to give up her state House seat to run for the upper chamber. Beavers is leaving the Legislature to run for Wilson County mayor.
Lynn was briefly hospitalized for stress earlier this year amid a firestorm surrounding the surprise election of Republican House Speaker Kent Williams. Shortly after the vote, a memo was released outlining 2-year-old allegations by Lynn that Williams had made sexually inappropriate comments and gave her an unwanted embrace.
An ethics complaint filed against Williams by another Republican lawmaker was dismissed unanimously by the bipartisan House Ethics Committee.
Lynn was first elected to the House in 2002.
