Drompp Named Faculty Dean, VP for Academic Affairs at Rhodes

Michael R. Drompp has been appointed dean of the faculty and vice president for academic affairs at Rhodes College. Drompp will provide leadership for academic departments and interdisciplinary programs in curricular, personnel and budgetary matters.

He has served as the campus liaison for the Luce Scholars Program, which fosters cultural exchange between Asia and the United States. He has been a faculty fellow for International Programs and has also served as dean of academic affairs for postgraduate fellowships.

Drompp joined the Rhodes faculty in 1989.

Oscar C. Carr IV of Glankler Brown PLLC has been named a member of the alumni board of directors of Presbyterian Day School. Carr concentrates his law practice in the areas of civil litigation, construction, employment, health care and personal injury law.

The Burch Group has been ranked first in the country in total production for its peer group of career financial representatives, year to date through April.

Hannah Jackson has been hired as a public relations account manager by archer>malmo.

Robin Chandler has joined Crye-Leike Realtors as an affiliate broker. Chandler has been a licensed Realtor in Tennessee since 2003. She specializes in all types of real estate sales with a focus on first-time buyers and clients who are relocating to the Mid-South.

Jennifer Warren has joined Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region as a health educator. Warren comes from St. Andrew AME Church, where she was the project coordinator of the Project H.O.P.E., an HIV/AIDS community outreach and prevention program.

Dr. Robert W. Williams has been appointed to the first governor’s chair in computational genomics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The appointment is given to leaders in science to develop and direct research programs that benefit both institutions.

Memphis Obstetrics and Gynecological Association PC has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology.

Dr. Lee Allen, an assistant professor of instructional design and technology/information science at the University of Memphis, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to lecture at Ostrohradsky Poltava Regional Pedagogical Institute in Ukraine during the 2009-2010 academic year. Allen will train Ukrainian teachers in the use of Web-based technologies so they can use the knowledge with their own students.

The Memphis Advertising Federation has awarded the 2009 Pyramid Awards. The Ad Man of the Year honor went to David Zachry of inferno. The Ad Woman of the Year honor went to Kelley Morice of Hemline Creative Marketing. Other award recipients included Lindsey Woodard, Cynthia Saatkamp, Julia Darling, Kimberley Fulwood, Tonia Cardoza, Jane Sewell, Greg Miller, George Davis, Teri Hanners, Marcia Anthony and Jim Doty.

Dr. Joaquin Santolaya and Dr. Kolawole Olayinka Oyelese have joined the College of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Santolaya most recently was director of the Center for Fetal Medicine and Prenatal Genetics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard University. Oyelese most recently was the interim director of Maternal Fetal Medicine for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

Amy Lind has joined inferno as junior art director.

Shelby Residential and Vocational Services has been awarded the 2009 Carnival Memphis Award of Excellence at the Carnival Memphis Business and Industry Salute Recognition Luncheon. The award recognizes the outstanding achievement and service of nonprofit industries for the Mid-South community.
