Dr Dr. Sylverna V. Ford was named dean of libraries at the University of Memphis. Her appointment is effective Sept. 1. Ford is dean of library services at Minnesota State University, Mankato. She received bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Maryland and a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. Kent C. Mathis, an investment representative with the Memphis office of Edward Jones, was named to the All-American Team of the American Funds Group. He has been with Edward Jones since 1999, and in the financial services field for 13 years. Dr. Jeffrey H. Lowery was named medical director of the Methodist Minor Medical Centers. He was executive director of the Baptist Minor Medical Centers. He received a bachelors degree from the University of Arkansas and a medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Orland Wolford was named president and chief executive officer of Memphis-based TBC Corp.s new acquisition, Tire Kingdom of Riviera Beach, Fla. He was vice president of Olson Tire. Doris C. Goode was chosen as the 2000 Tennessee Division Secretary of the Year. She was entered in the running for the designation after being chosen as the 1999 Secretary of the Year by the Memphis Branch of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. Goode has been executive secretary at Potlatch Corp. for 11 years. John T. Bigham Jr. of The Crump Firm Inc., and Stephen A. Mangin of Pickering Inc. achieved recognition as certified construction specifier, while Brett Berry of John J. Campbell Roofing Co Inc., and Clayton Gott Jr. of Nathan Evans Taylor Coleman Foster Inc. achieved recognition as certified document technician from the Construction Specifications Institute. Rita Clark, Shelby County Assessor, was named Assessor of the Year by the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers. Clark was recognized for her work on the TAAO Web site, which links assessors throughout the state. Curtis Dillihunt was promoted to senior vice president of administrative services and chief administrative officer, John McCullough was promoted to senior vice president and secretary-treasurer, and Larry Thompson was promoted to chief operating officer at Memphis Light, Gas & Water.
