A new store opening for a national chain is not usually occasion for a party this big. But to discount retailer Family Dollar, the grand opening of its 7,000th store was too important a milestone to let go by without a splash. And so a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, Aug. 11 for the chain’s new store in Memphis at 656 S. Highland St. included a $7,000 donation to the Mid-South Food Bank.
