5. Property Tax Clinic Scheduled for Saturday -

The fifth of six scheduled tax clinics, sponsored by Memphis City Council member Lee Harris and the law firm of Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson LLP, will be held Oct. 13.

7. Grant Brings ‘Pop Up’ Art to Underserved Areas -

Sometimes art pops up in the most unlikely of places. Thanks to a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, three underserved neighborhoods will have the city’s best performances delivered to their doorsteps.

8. ArtsMemphis to Host Free Frayser Arts Festival -

ArtsMemphis will host a free arts festival in Frayser at ArtsMemphis’ Pop Up Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The organization will host a free neighborhood arts event at the Ed Rice Community Center, 2907 N. Watkins St. The festival will include performances by Ballet Memphis, Collage Dance Collective, the Stax Music Academy and Watoto Memphis.

9. Charter Commission Expands Public Outreach -

The Metro Charter Commission has added two new public hearings to its schedule.

The group writing a proposed consolidation charter will hold a public hearing Tuesday at the Methodist Hospital South auditorium, 1300 Wesley Drive, in Whitehaven.

10. Consolidation Plan to be Presented in July -

After a dubious reception from Memphis City Council members and Shelby County Commissioners on June 24, the Metro Charter Commission is preparing for a series of public hearings in July.

The charter commission has until mid-August to draft a consolidation charter. The proposal then goes to voters on the Nov. 2 ballot.

The Orpheum Theatre will hold an open house today from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., 203 S. Main St. The open house will feature free food and drinks, backstage tours and organ concerts.
