23. Storyteller Brings Heartrending Tale to Stage -

Elaine Blanchard knows all too well that sometimes child’s play turns unexpectedly into nightmares. As a professional storyteller she hopes her personal narrative of a 5-year-old’s game that turned into tragedy will lead to healing as well.

24. Our Own Voice Examines Customer Service, Love -

Even customer service reps need love, according to a new play by a theater troupe focused on inclusiveness. Our Own Voice (OOV), a company in residence at TheatreWorks, hopes to challenge audiences to empathize with workers in an industry that often gets an earful.

25. National Artists Featured at Annual Concert -

Dance artists from the Northeast and the West Coast will join forces in Memphis in Project: Motion’s third annual concert of featured guests’ works.

“AXIS: Forging New Connections in Contemporary Dance” is scheduled for Friday through Feb. 28 at TheatreWorks at Overton Square, featuring choreography and performances by Juliet Waller Pruzan and Stephen Hando of Pennsylvania, and Ursula Payne of Seattle.

26. Playhouse on the Square Readies for Building’s Debut -

In anticipation of its grand opening production of “Pippin” Jan. 29, the new three-story Playhouse on the Square near Overton Square held its first preview event this week.

The new theater is the culmination of five years of fundraising and more than a year of construction.
