4. Children’s Heart Foundation Given $15,000 for Relocation -

The International Children’s Heart Foundation was awarded a $15,000 commercial office grant Wednesday, Nov. 14, by the Center City Development Corp. to move its offices from 1750 Madison Ave., suite 500, to Downtown’s Brinkley Plaza, 80 Monroe Ave., suite G-1.

5. The Next Link -

The next front in the city’s greenline movement is along the floodwalls of Chelsea Avenue in North Memphis.

Greater Memphis Greenline Inc. plans to develop a 2.5-mile section of an old railway into the Chelsea Avenue Greenline, a multiuse trail that will connect Overton Park with Uptown.

6. State Approves Move For Planned Parenthood -

The board for the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency this week approved Planned Parenthood of Greater Memphis Region’s plans to move from 1407 Union Ave. to 1750 Madison Ave.

7. Diocese: Proposed Abortion, Women’s Health Site Too Close to School -

The Catholic Diocese of Memphis says the proposed new location for Planned Parenthood on Madison Avenue is too close to its high school.

The Rev. Michael P. Joyce, chancellor for the diocese, wrote a letter to the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency opposing the application that Planned Parenthood of Greater Memphis Region has filed to relocate from 1407 Union Ave. to 1750 Madison. The board for the state agency is scheduled to review the certificate of need application next Wednesday.

8. Planned Parenthood, Others Seek New Locations -

Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region Inc. plans to move to another location in Midtown because its lease won’t be renewed, while the owner of two long-term care hospitals looks to build new facilities because of an eminent domain lawsuit.

11. Idlewild Church Nominated For National Register -

The Memphis Landmarks Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing Thursday on the nomination of Idlewild Presbyterian Church to the National Register of Historic Places.

The church at 1750 Union Ave., built in 1926, is an “excellent local example of a late Gothic Revival church,” according to a staff report prepared for the commission on the church’s nomination to the historic register.
