1. ‘Voice’ Star to Headline Calvary Rescue Mission Fundraiser -

On Thursday, Sept. 12, Calvary Rescue Mission will hold its annual Appreciation Dinner to celebrate 46 years of helping the homeless in Memphis.

The dinner will be held at Bellevue Baptist Church, 2000 Appling Road, and featured entertainment for the evening will be Visible Music College graduate and “The Voice” star Sarah Simmons.

Memphis Area Association of Realtors and Shelby County Trustee David Lenoir will host the 2013 Residential Real Estate Summit Tuesday, April 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Germantown Performing Arts Centre, 1801 Exeter Road. Lawrence Yun, National Association of Realtors chief economist, will discuss the current state of the local and national real estate market. Cost is free. University of Memphis Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter and Students Advocating Service will kick off Act! Speak! Build! 4. Calvary Mission Building Hope -

Last week we highlighted Agape Child & Family Services, a Christian-based organization that is providing children and families with healthy homes. This week let us discuss an independent, Christian organization focused on rebuilding the lives of homeless men while ministering to their physical and emotional needs and working to restore them to personal and spiritual fulfillment: Calvary Rescue Mission.

The Southwinds apartment complex at 1740 Bender Road in Whitehaven has its third owner in fewer than nine months now that AFI Properties LLC has acquired the multifamily complex for $1.2 million from Par Investments.
