Pennsylvania-based Exeter Property Group has snatched up the Smucker’s distribution warehouse in West Memphis for $15.6 million.
The 600,000-square-foot facility was a foreclosed property from Bank of America, which was selling it with a year-end anticipated closing, said Matt Brodnik, Exeter’s director of capital markets.

NEW YORK (AP) – J.C. Penney is permanently marking down all of its merchandise by at least 40 percent so shoppers no longer have to wait for sales to get bargains.
Penney said Wednesday that it is getting rid of the hundreds of sales it offers each year in favor of a simpler approach to pricing. Starting on Feb. 1, the retailer is rolling out an "Every Day" pricing strategy with much fewer sales throughout the year.

Although the downgrade late Friday by Standard & Poor's was historic, it wasn't entirely unexpected. The three main credit agencies, which also include Moody's Investors Service and Fitch Ratings, had warned during the fight over the debt ceiling that if Congress did not cut spending far enough, the country faced a downgrade.

LIVERMORE, Calif. (AP) - Hundreds of trash trucks across California are rumbling down city streets using clean fuel made from a dirty source: garbage.
The fuel is derived from rotting refuse that San Francisco and Oakland residents and businesses have been discarding in the Altamont landfill since 1980. Since November, the methane gas created from decaying detritus at the 240-acre (96-hectare) landfill has been sucked into tubes and sent into an innovative facility that purifies and transforms it into liquefied natural gas.

When homebuilders Gil and Rebecca Callaway bought their 96-year-old Neoclassical home on Stonewall Street in the picturesque Evergreen Historic District, they quickly set to work.
The two-story, three-bedroom home nestled among rows of trees had historic charm but needed scores of repairs. It had two sets of sliding doors, for instance, that stuck instead of opening.
